DEADLINE REMINDER!

Q & A Closes on October 31, 2010

ENTRY QUESTIONS

Q: My entry is a team effort, yet when I signed up I only entered one name. Can I add more names to my registration? A: You may edit your entry up until the submission deadline (December 15, 2010) and you may credit additional team members on your entry form by going to the “add entries” page of the registration form and clicking on the “add credits”.

Q: What if there are more than two members on my team? A: PVB has determined the awards for each entry. It is up to the team to determine how a prize is distributed within itself.

Q: Do I need to put some sort of code or number on my boards? How will you know a board is mine? A: When you first registered for BrickStainable Competition our system assigned you a unique ID# which will be used to track your entry throughout judging. The system automatically pairs your entry files with this number, so there is no need for you to put any identifying information and/or codes on your boards. When we choose the winners, we will simply look at our database of registrants and pair up the ID# with the registrant's name, email address, and so on.

Q: Do I need to label my boards to show their order? A: Entrants should explain the order of their boards by numbering, graphic legends or other identification.

COMPETITION QUESTIONS

Q: Is there an entry fee? A: There is a $75 fee for each entry submitted.

Q: Can I submit more than one entry? A: Yes. Once you’ve registered you can submit additional entries but each added entry requires an additional entry fee. All entries will be judged anonymously. Teams can only receive one prize, however.

Q: Can I submit a physical submission by mail? A: No. You may create drawings by hand but they should be scanned and submitted according to the competition instructions.

Q: Can other materials or technology be integrated with the brick itself? A: Yes.

Q: Can I submit design specs for a previously designed concept or does my entry need to be an original design? A: Ideas from other projects may be used however they are to be applied to this competition program and criteria

Q: How is “sustainability” measured…by LEED points, materials or process? A: The competition goal is to explore the potential of brick in creating sustainable projects. Each team has the responsibility to communicate by drawings narrative and/or performance data the sustainable attributes of the project. The Jury will determine the merits of each entry. LEED is not the standard that will be applied here.

AWARDS QUESTIONS

Q: What if there are more than two members on my team? A: In the happy event that you are a winner, it is up to the team to determine the allocation of the prize money. Travel expenses (airfare and hotel stay) are offered only to the registered team members with a maximum of two.

Q: What if I cannot attend the Award Ceremony? A: PVB will cover expenses of registered members of the team only. If a member or members of the team cannot attend, this aspect of the prize is waived.

Q: Can friends and family attend the Award Ceremony? A: Friends and family may attend the Award Ceremony at their own expense.
